Parents were Leonard William and Elsie G.(Wilkison) Cohoon and married Phyllis C. Kramer on April 17,1946 in Dodge City, Ks. He graduated from Dodge City High School and Dodge City Community College. He served as a medic in teh U.S.Army in Europe duing World War II. He was owner of Cohoon's Hobby and Handicraft for 25 years. He served as Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Dodge City for 20 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of the First Christian Church. Dodge City Gun Club, a life member of the Howard Gotschall Post No. 1714 V>F>W> all of Dodge City, and the American Trap Assoc.
Survivors are his wife, two sons,Dr. Kelly Cohoon and wife, Debra, Dodge City, Larry Cohoon and wife, Debra, Derby and one daughter, Vicki Jean Sunberg and husband Steve of Garden City, KS.; three sisters, Virginia Whitley and Joan Stelle both of Dodge City and Colene Cobb, Spearville, KS. and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grand-daughter, Stacey Cohoon. Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church with Larry Williams and Charley Greer presiding. Memorials went to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Assoc. .
