JACKSON: Keith E. Hammond, age 73, of Jackson, went to be with the Lord Sunday, February 13, 2011, at Heartland of Jackson.
He was born the fourth of five sons in Glenroy, Ohio, December 6, 1937, to the late Andy and Dorothy (Parker) Hammond.
Keith was raised in Glenroy and attended Coalton High School, graduating from Wellston High School in the class of 1955. After graduation he went to Akron and was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber company. He lived with the Roy and Carrie King family, whom he loved as his family away from home. He joined the Gospelaires Quartet after giving his life to the Lord at the Barbarton First Church of Christ, then becoming a member of the Lakeview Church of Christ.
He was employed by the Frick Gallager Steel Mfg. Co. of Wellston, and later Mead Paper Co. of Chillicothe, retiring in 1993 after 32 ½ years of service. He served six years in the United States Army Reserves.
On July 4th 1964, he married his beloved wife, Janet Lou Parks of Jackson. To this union a beautiful daughter Holly (Brett Jordan) was born on December 29, 1971.
Keith is survived by one brother, Millard William Hammond (Barbara) of Jackson.
Keith loved singing Southern Gospel Music and serving the Lord. He was a member of the Gospelaires Quartet of Akron, the Sunrise Quartet of Portsmouth, The Uhrig Brothers Quartet of Chillicothe, The Crystal River Quartet of Portsmouth, The Singing Journeymen of Chillicothe, and New Horizon of Chillicothe. He was a member of the Hamilton Christian Church of Oak Hill and served many years as Sunday School Superintendent.
Keith loved to travel and Loved America. He leaves behind a loving family and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents; he is preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Gerald, and Harold Hammond.
Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Hamilton Christian Church with Pastor Larry Boggs officiating, burial will follow Hamilton Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 a the Eisnaugle-Lewis Funeral Home.
