Funeral services for Phil Atkins, 75, of Pryor will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Pryor. Rev. Robert Harris will officiate with burial following at Graham Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Pryor.

Philip Morris Atkins was born in Joplin, Missouri on June 1, 1937 to Verl and Winnifred (Baker) Atkins of Baxter Springs, Kansas.

He grew up in Baxter Springs and served in the United States Air Force. He was married to Irma Freda Gordanier for 50 years. They made their home in Baxter Springs for a short time, and then moved to Pryor in the early 60's where they remained.

Phil worked for Horner's Foodliner in Pryor then Bruce Jacobs Pryority Motors and the Moore Motor Company.

Phil was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pryor, the Methodist Men's and the Tulsa Gluedobber Control Line Club.

He is survived by his wife Freda of the home; two sons Mark and Janice Atkins of Oklahoma City and Gregory Atkins of Jenks. Two grandchildren Shannon Reed and husband Ronnie and Daniel Griswold; five great grandchildren Anna, Haley and Ella Reed and Kaitlyn and Kamryn Griswold; one brother Jerry Atkins and wife Pam of Overland Park, KS; Special cousins Lynne Self, Gary Jocelyn and Mitchell Leonard of Michigan and Doug, Edna, Christine, Ashley, Joshua, Nolan and Ryan Stahl of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Jack Atkins and a special cousin Wesley Leonard.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the First United Methodist Church in Pryor or the American Heart Association.
