Orange was the husband of Angeline Warehime and the father of Guy, Glen, Alice, Mary and Forest. Angeline died on March 17, 1892 after giving birth to Forest.
He served in the civil war in Co. B 9th Regiment Ohio Calvalry.
He was the son of Daniel Pettay (minister)and Margaret McWilliams and the brother of: John Wesley, Phillip McWilliams, Francis A, William R.W., Sarah E., Nancy C. and Mary N.
After Angeline died in 1892, Orange married Lucetta Fogle on January 30, 1893. They had one son Roe Paul.
He is the author of a book entitled "Five Years In Hell" about his stay in the Ohio Penitentiary. He maintained his innocence for the crime committed.

His tombstone reads:
"Asleep to awake only at the sound of the trumpet"
