PERRY, DOCTON CORNELIUS
(1844~1832)
Docton Cornelius Perry was born in Alabama on January 7, 1844, to William W. Perry, of Georgia, and Sallie Williams, of South Carolina. Perry entered into the Confederate Army in Alabama and served in Company G, of the 30th Alabama Regiment, in Pettus' Brigade in the Army of Tennessee.
After the war ended, Perry moved to Texas in 1870, and eventually settled in Granbury, Hood County, Texas. While in Granbury, Perry, at age 56, applied for and received a Confederate Pension, claiming disability from a gun shot wound he received during the war. In later years, Perry appears to have moved to Waco, McLennan County, Texas, possibly after his wife's death, where two of his children lived: W. C. Perry and Mrs. M. A. Scarbrough. In 1916, he moved into the Confederate Men's Home in Austin, where he was twice released at his own request. During his last stay at the Home, Perry died on August 19, 1932.
