ARA E. LISHER DIES AT HOME
Prominent Local Attorney Is Dead
Ara E. Lisher, 84, prominent Shelbyville attorney, died at 11:00 p.m. Monday at his home, 14 north Tompkins Street, after an illness of three weeks.
Born on September 27, 1859, in VanBuren township, he was the son of Leonard and Hulda Williams Lisher. On September 28, 1884, Mr. Lisher was married to Miss Judith Bass. Two children were born to this union, one of whom died in infancy. Mrs. Lisher died September 2, 1940.
Mr. Lisher attended Central Normal College at Danville and studied law at Butler university in Indianapolis. He located in Shelbyville in 1882, practicing law here until his death.
He was a member of the First Christian church and the Shelby County Bar Association.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Hazel) Spurlin, Shelbyville and a sister, Mrs. O. P. Eastes, Greenfield.
Funeral services will be held at the Charles M. Ewing mortuary on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. and burial will be made in Forest Hill cemetery. Rev. E. L. Ford will officiate at the last rites.
