Mary Beth Carusone, 85, widow of Colonel John J. Carusone, died Saturday (September 1, 2001) at the Hartford Hospital. She had been ill for some time.
Born in Salt Lake City, UT in 1916, she was the daughter of the late Brigadier General Duncan Grant Richart and Gladys McConnoghay. As the daughter and wife of military officers, she had lived across the U.S. as well as Europe, China, Japan and South America.
Mary Beth moved to Glastonbury in 1966. She was a parishioner of Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, South Glastonbury and had been a member of its Altar Guild. She was also a member and supporter of many civic organizations including, among others, the Salvation Army and the Hartford Hospital.
Mary Beth is survived by her daughter, Karin Jean Carusone of Manchester; her stepdaughter, Roccia Hernandez of Eagle Pass, TX; and her son, John S. Carusone of East Hartford.
Mary Beth will be interred next to her husband at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York at a private burial ceremony.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in South Glastonbury on Saturday, September 15, at 2 p.m. Those wishing to make memorial donations may do so to Saint Luke's.
