Inventor. Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, he was best known for his many inventions associated with printing telegraphy. He began his career as a telegrapher for Western Union in 1875 and was associated with the company for the next 28 years. During the period of (1905-08), he developed the Barclay Electric Printing Telegraph System, stock market ticker tape and a self-winder machine. During his career he received a total of 38 U.S. Patents.
