Clark
Ms. Carrie E. Clark, whose body was laid to rest Sunday afternoon, was a native of Onondaga County, New York. Nearly all her life, however, was spent in Waverly. Her parents came first to Little York, but remained there only a very short time. On Nov. 24, 1864 she was married to Chas. W. Clark. To them two children were born, but both died in early childhood. Mrs. Clark, was therefore the last of her immediate family to pass to the home land. Her church life began in the Methodist church; but going wit her husband for short time to Manchester, Ill. both there united with the Presbyterian church. On their return to Waverly both united with the Congregational church and remained consistent members of it until their deaths. Mr. Clark died some five years ago.
Mrs. Clark's religion was such a real thing, that death had no terrors for her. Much of the scriptures was upon her lips. Some of the choicest hymns were familiar to her as her name. As the gates were opened to let her pass she said I am ready Lord and was gone.
She was a patient, true, steady Christian. May the memory of her calm faith, and her clear victory abide with us, to give us strength in our plodding homeward. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Congregational church, conducted by The Rev. W. S. Bugbey.
Deceased was aged 66 years, 5 mos., and 28 days.
