Ralph L. Hartzell, 69, of West Main Street, Hillsville, died the afternoon of July 11, 2002, in Indian Creek Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 6, 1932, he was a son of the late William and Cora Young Hartzell.
He married the former Vera Hindsman on Dec. 8, 1956. She survives.
Mr. Hartzell worked at the Fenati Brick Co. for 20 years. He was a welder in press metal at Commercial Intertech for 23 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a Webelo leader and Cub Scout master for Pack 723 in New Bedford for six years. Mr. Hartzell was a member of the New Bedford and Mahoning Township volunteer fire departments and the Mohawk Lions Club. He was a former member of the New Bedford Lions Club.
He volunteered with food distribution for the elderly in Mahoning Township.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Patty Ann McQueen of Sharon and Terri Lee Hartzell of Hillsville; three sons, Ralph Hartzell, Jr. of New Castle and Rick Hartzell and Eric Hartzell, both of Hillsville; a brother, Ernest Hartzell of New Castle; a half brother, Garnet Hartzell of Butler; and eight grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Hartzell and William Hartzell, and a sister, Nettie Hartzell.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 941 S. Mill St. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
