Albert Ray Primmer, 74, of near Monticello was found dead at 6 p.m. Sunday in his home. He had been under a doctor's care.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bauman Funeral Home. Members of Roy Hamm Post 101 American Legion conducted a graveside service in the Monticello Cemetery.
Mr. Primmer was born Dec. 29, 1891 at White Heath, a son of Peter and Minerva Davis Primmer. He was married to Hazel Wildman in 1917. She died in 1936.
He was married to Mrs. Edith Varner Howland April 1, 1940. Mr. Primmer, a farmer, leaves his widow; a son Donald of Monticello; a step son Merle Howland of Berryville, Va.; a step daughter, Mrs. Don (Wilberta) Hays of Findlay, Ohio; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Bertha Smith, of Centerville.
He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Piatt County Barracks 1130, Veterans of World War I.
There is a memorial in Harshbarger Cemetery that shows Albert sharing a stone with his first wife, Hazel. I believe it is an "honorary stone", but have no proof except for this obituary. It is Memorial# 114808648.
