George Abraham Barrick, aged 58 years, died Saturday evening at the home of his soninlaw [sic] and daughter, Mr and Mrs Russell Turnbaugh, at their farm in Oliver township, after having been ill several months of heart trouble. He was a son of William and Eliza (Pee) Barrick and was born in Polecat Valley, Miller township. As a young man he followed boating on the Penna canal, but for 31 years was stable boss at the Oak Extract plant, which was closed several years ago. His wife, who was Miss Annie Swartz of Marysville, died six years ago this month. Survivors are his sisters and brothers: Annie, Mrs P O Sheibley, Johnstown; Bertha, Mrs Lawrence Long, Canada; Pearl, Mrs Perry Clouser, and Jennie, Mrs Harry Arndt, Harrisburg; Irvinof Newport, and Orris, East Newport. Surviving also are two daughters, Nellie Kathryn, Mrs E J Marion, Akron, Ohio, and Helen Eliza, Mrs Turnbaugh. Nine grandchildren survive. Mr Barrick who was well known, here possessed a very likeable disposition and was a member of Newport Social Order of Owls, ____________ and Loyal Order of Moose. Funeral services Wednesday afternoon at the home with interment in Newport Cemetery.
