The Brownsville Herald, June 7, 1901 - "PURELY PERSONAL - Quirino Salazar left this morning for San Antonio, going on account of bad health."

The Brownsville Herald, June 10, 1901 - "Quirino Salazar, who set out from Brownsville Saturday morning, to go to San Antonio for his health, died on the road, at Puente de los Negros, and was brought back to town at once. Deceased was suffering with consumption and hoped that the change to San Antonio would benefit him, but he was too far gone to make the trip and had gone but a few miles when death overtook him. He leaves two daughters and several sons, besides other relatives residing in this place. The funeral took place yesterday morning from the Catholic church."
