He was the son of Wesley Austin and Della Pearl (Walker) Walker.

He married Nellie Akers on September 3, 1926, she preceded him in death.

Loie died at the Pinecrest Sanitarium in Beckley and his funeral was held in the Coal City Community Church. He was a retired coal miner.

Loie and Nellie had five children:
