Ellis, Eliza A. 1847-1934 Morris Obituary

Mrs. Eliza Ellis of
Morris Passes Away

Morris, July 9---After many years of failing health, Mrs. Eliza A. Ellis passed away at the family home in Elm Grove Saturday night at 10 o'clock.
Eliza A. Burdick, youngest daughter of Nelson and Anna (Calder) Burdick, was born in Morris, near the Pittsfield town line, August 7, 1847, where she spent her girlhood. In 1873 she was united in marriage to Frederick Ellis, of Elm Grove, a valued enploye for years of the Benjamins of Elm Grove. Mr. Ellis died in February, 1904.
Mrs. Ellis was a woman of unfailing sympathy and kindness of heart, always ministering to the wants of others as long as her health permitted. For some time she had been almost helpless. Throughout this affliction her patience was very marked and she leaves a host of friends who will cherish her memory.
The immediate surviving relatives are: A son, George Ellis of Elm Grove; three step-daughters, Mrs. Albert Tillson of Oneonta, R. D., Mrs. E. E. Carpenter of Barre, Vt., and Mrs. Earl Potter of New Berlin; also several nieces and nephews, to all of whom sincere sympathy is extended at this time.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. L. Curtis Denney, pastor of Zion Episcopal church, were held at the Ellis residence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment was in the family plot in Hillington cemetery.
