Victor G. "Vic" Anderson of Carpentersville Services for Victor G. "Vic" Anderson, 83, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee. The Rev. Robert Baker will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Born Aug. 27, 1921, in Elgin, the son of Victor T. and Florence A. (nee Newborgh) Anderson, he died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at the Alderwood Nursing Center in South Elgin. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a former 42-year employee of ITW/Shakeproof Manufacturing in Elgin retiring in 1981. He was a proud Marine Corp veteran. He served his country during World War II as part of the 4th Marine Division. He participated in the Southwest Pacific campaigns landing in the Mariana Islands, Saipan, Tinian and finally Iwo Jima. He was a life member of Elgin V.F.W. Post #1307, Elgin Marine Detachment Post #077, Elgin American Legion #57 and American Legion #2910 of Bloomington. Vic was also a loyal member of the Republican Party. He served as a Republican Precinct Committeeman in Dundee Township for over 30 years. He was a life member of the John Ericsson League of Illinois and a member and past president of the Kane County John Ericsson Republican League of Illinois. He was also a member of Carpentersville Moose #1958 and a life member of the Elgin Riverside Club. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby E. Anderson (nee Blades), whom he married July 3, 1942; six children, Jerri (Dan) Harrison of Arizona, Janet (Don) LaRocco of Carpentersville, Debra Becker of East Dundee, Florence Anderson and Jeffery Anderson both of Carpentersville and Patricia (Vincent) Telford of Florida; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth (Lori), Clifford and retired Judge Donald T. (Nancy) all of Elgin; many nieces, nephews and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; sister, Vernett Shingledecker; and brother, Gene.
