DAVENPORT - Bruno Ihlefeld, 95, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Crest Health Center, Davenport. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will take place in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.
Bruno was born Oct. 2, 1917, in Blue Grass Township in Iowa, a son of Frederick and Ella (Schmidt) Ihlefeld. He was united in marriage to Gladys Edens on Oct. 12, 1946, in Atkins, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 2001. Bruno served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater.
Bruno had been employed for 35 years as a model builder with Bendix Corporation, retiring in 1983. Several of the parts he had been involved with had been used in the U.S. space program. He was very handy and loved to help others with their projects.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis Carlisle and her husband Dr. Gene Carlisle of La Crosse, Wis., and Laraine Summerfield and husband the Rev. Tom Summerfield of Ruthven, Iowa; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Gary Ihlefeld and his wife Jeanne of Muscatine; grandchildren, Jeff Vorderberg, Allen Ihlefeld, Dr. Jon Ihlefeld, Jacob Summerfield, and Arianna Summerfield; great-granddaughters, Aubrey Vorderberg, and Lisette and Leanna Ihlefeld; sisters, Erna Logan, Ottumwa, Iowa, and Vera Sessler, Wilton, Iowa; and a brother, Edgar Ihlefeld, Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother, Albert.
