Born Nov. 28, 1931, in Lutherville, he was the son of the late Walter E. Cox and Bertha Esterline Cox. He was the husband of Shirley Jeannette Ritter Cox, his wife of 33 years.
He was a veteran of the Army. He was a retired plumber with Bibb Heating and Equipment, and after his retirement he worked for the Walmart in Hampstead. He was a member Hampstead Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Sherrie Wieczorkowski, of Perry Hall, Russell A. Cox Jr., of Hampstead, Bradley Russell Cox, of Pikesville, Nancy Ann Conn and Paul Harrison Fauver, both of Westminster, and David Charles Fauver, of Littlestown, Pa.; siblings Carroll Cox, of Reisterstown, Norman Cox, of Finksburg, Ruth Ann Bradenburg, of Lancaster, Pa., and Shelby Wisner, of Millers; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Robert Cox; and a brother, Robert Cox.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with his pastor, the Rev. Chris Brammer officiating. Interment will be in Manchester Baptist Church Cemetery.
