Obituary: Knoxville Register - July 18, 1838: Died, Monday 16th inst. at his residence in Sevier County, Mr. Andrew Creswell at an advanced age. He was a native of South Carolina; removed to Virginia in 1772, came with parents to frontier settlements on the Holston. His father was killed by Shawnees and his mother left with eight children. In the 16th year he joined a company raised to protect the infant settlements on the Clinch River. He served in the Revolutionary War and was at King's Mountain and Guilford Courthouse. He removed to Boyd's Creek in 1787 served in the Indian Wars; was one of the founders of Eusebia Church.

"The John Pickens Family" by Nellie Pickens Anderson, p.235: Andrew Creswell was born Jan. 12, 1757 in South Carolina, died in Sevier County July 16, 1838. He married Dorothy Evins (Evans) March 22, 1780, who was born Dec. 11, 1756 and died in Sevier County at about the age of 100 years. Andrew Creswell came to the Boyd's Creek section of Sevier County with his father William Henry Creswell about 1787. A sister, Polly, who married a Huffaker and a brother Henry also came along with him. Andrew Creswell was a brave soldier of the Revolution having served a period of thirteen years or more in various wars of the early period. He was of great aid to the early settlers of the Boyd's Creek section and Ramsey's Annals relate stories of his bravery. He and his wife were charter members of the Eusebia Presbyterian Church and he was an elder and worker in this church for many years.
