Karen McPherson Cook, 56 of San Antonio, Texas passed from this life into eternal reunion with loved ones on March 15th, 2013. She died peacefully in the company of her family and loved ones at her home in San Antonio after a 9 year battle with cancer.

Karen Cook was born November 1, 1956 in Gainesville, Texas to Timothy McPherson and Mary Jane Ramsey McPherson. She was the third of four children. Karen graduated from Jacksboro High School in 1975 and Texas A&M University in 1979 with a degree in Animal Science. She married James Cook on June 30th, 2001.

Karen was a longtime resident of Jacksboro, Bridgeport, and San Antonio where she was active in church and community activities. She was a middle school science teacher and inspired many students for a number of years before moving to San Antonio.

Karen is survived by her husband James Cook of San Antonio, daughters Kendra McPherson-Darr and Kirby Jones, stepson Heath Cook of Jacksboro, Texas, brother Brian Glenn McPherson of Allen, Texas, sister Gay Lynn McPherson of Dallas,Texas, niece Ava McPherson Cruise, nephews Alex and Jeffrey McPherson, sister-in-law Paula Williams, and a multitude of friends and extended family whose lives she touched.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Tim and Jane McPherson, and her brother Jeffrey Ben McPherson, cousins Jimmy Burrows and Kevin Hunter.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial service is to be held at the First United Methodist Church of Jacksboro, Texas. on Friday afternoon, March 22nd 2013. Revs. Brian Glenn McPherson of Allen, Texas and Charles Pierce of First United Methodist of Jacksboro will be presiding. Her ashes will be interred in Oakwood cemetery in Jacksboro, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks all memorials be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition at www.ovarian.org or First Methodist Church of Jacksboro in her honor.
