Death: Aug. 23, 1918

Mrs. Hannah Mary Owens, for many years well known in Tyrone and more
recently of Juniata, died at 9:30 o'clock yesterday morning in the borough
home of a daughter, Mrs. J. E. Piper, of 110 Tenth avenue. Mrs. Owens was 80
years of age on April 13 and was the widow of the late David G. Owens, of
Tyrone. Mrs. Owens was born at Warriorsmark and during her married life was
highly esteemed as a resident of Tyrone. She was from childhood a consistent
Christian and during the last thirty-five years was a member of the First
Methodist Episcopal church of Tyrone. Since the death of her husband
thirteen years ago, the beloved mother found a pleasant home with the
daughter, Mrs. J. E. Piper, in Juniata. Other children surviving are Mrs.
John M. Hamer, of Tyrone, and W. P. Owens, of Philadelphia. The deceased
lady is also survived by one sister and two brothers - Mrs. Jackson
Armstrong, of Altoona; W. P. Irvin, of Duncansville, and R. C. Irvin, of
Service over the remains will be held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Piper on
Monday morning at 10 o'clock and will be conducted by the Rev. Alexander
Lamberson, of the First Methodist Episcopal church of Juniata. At 11 o'clock
on Monday morning the funeral cortege will leave for Tyrone in a special car
over the Logan Valley line. The remains will be laid to rest in the Tyrone
Grandview cemetery, after a funeral service in which the Rev. Mr. Lamberson
and the Rev. A. S. Fasick, of Tyrone, will officiate.

Altoona Tribune, Saturday morning, August 24, 1918, page 10

Her husband, David G. "D.G." Owens, ran a Tyrone department store and pharmacy, called Owens.

An Irvine family Bible report said she was married 17 Aug. 1862 by the Rev. W.A. Houck at Laurel Hills. That may have been a Methodist Episcopal church.
