Bessie LaDell Williams
(September 20, 1939 - March 17, 2013)

Denison- Bessie LaDell Williams, age 73, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. LaDell was born on September 20, 1939 at the Kings Daughters' Hospital in Gulfport, Mississippi, the daughter of Wilburn E. and Bessie Jane Fillingame. Her family moved to Long Beach, Mississippi where she spent most of her early years. She graduated from Long Beach High School in 1957 and answered her calling of helping others by working as a "Candy Striper" at the Memorial Hospital of Gulfport during her Junior of high school. After graduation she enrolled in nursing school at the Methodist Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi while completing her required courses at the University of Southern Mississippi. She later transferred to the Gilfoy School of Nursing at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi when the school in Hattiesburg closed. She completed her college education at Mississippi College in Clinton, and it was during this time that she met Hardy Williams whom she married just a few months after her graduation. LaDell and Hardy were married November 25, 1960 at the First Methodist Church in Long Beach and first resided in Pearl, Mississippi. In their 52 Years of marriage they moved from Pearl to Illion, New York; to Alexandria, Louisiana; back to Pearl; then to Starkville, MS; to Long Beach, MS; to Kiln, MS; and finally to Denison, Texas where LaDell spent the remainder of her days. Mrs. Williams loved her career of serving people as a registered nurse, and the only thing in life that she found more fulfilling than caring for her patients was giving birth to and raising her three wonderful children. Countless memories were made throughout LaDell's years as a parent, and as the days went on and her children started their own families it only got better. With the birth of each grandchild her life got better than she had ever dreamed it could. LaDell (Fillingame) Williams is survived by her loving family, husband, Hardy L. Williams, son, Michael Alan Williams Sr. and wife Becky of Gulfport, MS, two daughters, Pamela Dell Lombardo and husband Andrew of Pass Christian, MS, Sandra Lee Kelley and husband Bill of Bells, TX, six grandchildren, Michael Williams Jr., Andrew Williams, Victoria Lombardo, David Lombardo, William Kelley Jr., and Megan Kelley, and sister, Myrtis E. Lunceford of Vicksburg, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, and granddaughter Stephanie Kelley. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Taylor officiating. Family visitation will be Friday, March 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home. The family of Mrs. Williams would like to thank the staff at Texoma Medical Center for the loving care Bessie was given, especially during her time in ICU and her final hours on 4th floor.
