Sgt. U.S. Army, Vietnam War-Sgt. Bowlin was killed in action by small arms fire on 1-7-1969 while serving as a Light Weapons Infantryman with Co. D of the 3rd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. Sgt. Bowlin started his tour of Vietnam on July 23, 1968.

He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. John E. Bowlin of R.R.#2, Sparta, Illinois, and the husband of Mrs. Jo Ann Bowlin of Box 74, Walsh, Illinois, and he is a 1966 graduate of Sparta H.S. He is of the Catholic Faith.

Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal.
