Mrs. Ethel M. Hamer, 73, a lifelong resident of North Loup and a Ord Quiz news correspondent for more than 30 tears, died Friday July 1, at the Valley County Hospital. She had been in poor health since suffering from a severe stroke last fall.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Seventh Day Baptist Church at North Loup with the Rev. Duane Davis officiating. Mrs. Louise Brennick, organist, accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Jeneane Abel, who sang "Whispering Home" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were Thomas Hamer, Gregory Hamer, Gary Hamer, Roger Williams and John Portis. Burial was in the North Loup Cemetery. Hastings Pearson Mortuary was in charge.

Mrs. Hamer was born September 23, 1892 at North Loup to Sherman and Winnie Babcock Clement. Her entire life was lived in North Loup. She was a 1909 graduate of North Loup High School. On July 1, 1911, she was married to Thomas J. Hamer at Boulder, Colo. She was a member of the No-Lo Club, BPW and the Library Board of North Loup. She was also a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church.

Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Winnie Williams of North Loup, Mrs. Louise Kammerlohr of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Florence Hedges of Indianola, Mrs. Muriel Portis of Walton, Mrs. Marjorie Church of Glenn Ellyn, Ill, Mrs. Evelyn Evans of Ceresco and Mrs. Carolyn Cook of Columbus; two sons, Lewis of Beatrice and John of North Loup; one sister, Mrs. Edna Richards of Riverside, Calif.; one foster sister, Mrs. Zoe Miller; 29 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
