Mary E. "Betty" Fray, 88, of West Chester, died peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at Park Lane at Bellingham.

She was the wife of the late David C. Fray.

Born in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late David William Line and Mabel Eckels Line.

She was a retired school teacher. She taught at Henderson and Great Valley high schools. She was the Great Valley High School faculty adviser of the Future Business Leaders of America.

She had lived in Chester County since 1956 and was a member of the United Methodist Church of West Chester and the Woman's Circle at the church.

She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was president of the resident council at Park Lane at Bellingham and a member of the Lioness Club of West Goshen for many years.

She was an avid swimmer and enjoyed playing bridge, square dancing and traveling.

Surviving are four daughters, Cay La Rue of Manassas, Va., Anne L. Shiffer, wife of Tom of Havertown, Lois Drabot, wife of David of Richboro, and Bobbie Burkhart, wife of James of Holland, Pa.; and grandchildren Rachael, Jenna, Elizabeth and Carl.

Her son, David William Fray, preceded her in death.

Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the United Methodist Church of West Chester, High and Barnard streets, West Chester, PA 19382.

Entombment is private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Park Lane Staff Appreciation Fund, 1615 E. Boot Road, West Chester, PA 19380; or the above named church.
