In 1954 Joe received Montreal's Most Outstanding Athlete of the Year Award, at a time when the city was filled with legends such as Rocket Richard, Jean Beliveau, Sam Etcheverry and Hal Patterson. After a long and successful football career Joe applied his determination, hard work and team leadership skills to business world. Upon retirement Joe was CEO and Chairman of Lake Ontario Cement. Of all his accomplishments Joe's biggest source of pride was his family, to whom he was a great role model. Joe enjoyed life, and lived it with great enthusiasm. His warm personality put everyone at ease and he treated everyone he met with great respect. He enjoyed summers in the Thousand Islands and winters in Naples, Florida.
