British Prime Minister. His official title is Lord Leonard James Callaghan, Baron Callaghan of Cardiff. He was World War II veteran who spent his post-war years establishing himself in government. After holding several positions he served as prime minister from April 1976 until May 1979 (and would eventually become the longest surviving Prime Minister). He was succeeded by Margaret Thatcher. He died one day before his 93rd birthday and 11 days after Audrey, his wife of 67 years. (bio by: Selk)
