ATWOOD, LUTHER OLIVER
(1846~1926)
1st Georgia Cavalry

He enlisted in Company A of the 1st Georgia Cavalry April 1, 1863. The only record located shows him in the hospital, sick, August 10, 1864. It is possible that he fought at Chickamauga and Murfreesboro as he was enlisted at the times of those battles. On his Confederate Pension Application he said he was discharged in May of 1865.

Luther Oliver Atwood was born April 19, 1846 in Cass County, Georgia to Thomas and Nancy Atwood. He married Julia Ellison in Van Zandt, Texas, August 3, 1875.
