Leon A. Wylie, age 58, of Illinois City died at 9:30 a.m. October 23 at Hershey hospital, Muscatine, after an illness of several days. Services were held Saturday in the Illinois City Methodist church with the George M. Wittich Funeral Home in charge. The Rev. C. B. Larson officiated. Burial was in the Illinois City cemetery.
Mr. Wylie, a son of Leon A. and Josephine Pullen Wylie was born June 20, 1894, in Leon, Iowa, and resided most of his life in Illinois City. His marriage to Bessie Anderson took place in Rock Island Feb. 12, 1916. her death occurred May 14. He was a member of the Illinois City church and as a bridge and steel worker by trade was affiliated with the Construction Worker's Union.
Survivors are two sons, Noah L., with the U.S. Navy in Japan and Merle E. of Illinois City; two daughters, Mrs. Lyle Morrison of Reynolds and Mrs. Fred Smith of New Boston; his father in Long Beach, Calif.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his mother, a son and a brother.
Pallbearers were Harry Passmore, Fred Hinrichs, Benjamin Coffeen, Lynn Connaughy, Thomas Passmore and B. A. Scott. Flower attendants were Mesdames Uriel Reed and Leo Tyler. Mrs. Roscoe Powell sang, accompanied by Mrs. Omer Keller. Illinois City Correspondent.
