Mary Fleming

Mary Samantha Fleming was born August 1, 1910, the daughter of Charles Francis and Mamie Mae Allen Adams. She was the eldest of three children, a brother, Marshall Adams and sister, Delphia Day followed her in death.

On August 17, 1925, Mary Adams was united in marriage to William Fleming, who preceded her in death in 1942. The couple had six children together; daughters, Evelyn Roach, Maybelle Evans, Modena Skaggs, Ruby Flowers, Jewell Young and son, Billy E. Fleming.

In December of 1947 Mary had a second marriage to Sherman Woodrow Cogdill. The couple briefly lived in California and had a son and daughter together, Sherman Dale and Linda Sue Cogdill. Both children eventually resided in Illinois. Mary and Sherman divorced early. Sherman Cogdill died in East Prairie in 1976.

Mary died on August 30, 1981 in East Peoria, Illinois at the age of 71. She remarried once more to a Mr. Ingle, but the couple's relationship became estranged prior to her death. She was buried in Dogwood Cemetery next to her first husband William Fleming.
