Anna Wilma Klingel Strickland Brown

SIKESTON — Ann Strickland Brown, 89, died at 1:10 a.m. May 17, 2007, at her home.
Born Dec. 29, 1917, in Marine, Ill., daughter of the late Louis H. and Mary Stein Klingel, she had lived in Mississippi and Scott counties since 1920. While living in Charleston, she was a member of the First Baptist Church. In 1985, she moved to Bertrand where she became a member of the United Methodist Church. In 1987, she moved to Sikeston and transferred her membership to Sikeston First United Methodist Church. She served as food supervisor for the Charleston R-1 School District for many years until her retirement, was a lifetime member of the Charleston V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary No. 4294 and was a charter member of the Sikeston Senior Citizens Group.
On Nov. 7, 1936, she married Daniel Ray Strickland who preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1984. In 1989, she married Doyle Brown who preceded her in death in 1999.
She was also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Dale Ray and Helen Strickland of Senatobia, Miss., William Howard and Ruth Strickland of Eclectic, Ala., and Charles Daniel "Cocklebur" and Dean Strickland of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Carmen and Steve Mitchell of Southaven, Miss.; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and six great- great-grandchildren; and her special caregiver, Pat Ocheskey of Sikeston.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. The Rev. Geoff Posegate, pastor, officiated.
Burial followed in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston with McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were: her three sons, Dale Ray Strickland, William Howard Strickland and Charles Daniel Strickland; her son-in-law, Steve Mitchell; and three grandsons, Jimmy Dale Strickland, Mark Alan Strickland and Scott Clifton.
