|Birth: ||Sep., 1839|
|Death: ||Nov. 12, 1899|
Theodosia VanCleve Wells was born in Jefferson county, Illinois to Greenberry and Susannah Elizabeth (Maxey) Wells. She married Calvin Ireland, son of Daniel and Susan P (Johnson) Ireland.
According to other researchers, Theodosia had four children in Illinois between 1859 and 1863: Mary E, Angus, James and Lienetta. Mary E is the only one shown on any US Federal Census Record. Did these children die in Illinois or in route to Washington Territory? Theodosia's father died of tuburculosis and is buried in Mount Vernon, Jefferson, Illinois. Other diseases such as cholera, diptheria and scarlet fever were prevelant during that time.
Calvin and Theodosia moved their family to Walla Walla, Washington Territory probably about 1864 and their fifth child, Annie Laurie was born there on 3 Dec 1864. Theodosia gave birth to seven more children: Ellen Pearl, Hattie B, Robert Edwin, Netta A, Alta E, Frederick J and Maude K. All were born in Washington Territory except Robert Edwin who was born in Oregon.
Theodosia died in 1899. Calvin was living with his daughter Ella P and son-in-law Sylvester Linville in Lind, Adams county, Washington and was widowed.
