Retha Childress was born near Sapulpa, Oklahoma on August 30, 1914 to Charley Watt and Mary Lilly Warren Burgett. When she was 14 years old, she was saved at a revival along with her father. Retha and her husband, Albert, owned and ran grocery stores in Oklahoma from 1944 to 1985. They owned a ranch near Sperry, Oklahoma for many years. After the ranch was sold, she lived in Skiatook, Oklahoma with her daughter, Donivee Jett. She loved to embroider and gifted many of her hand stitched pieces to friends and family who treasure them to this day. She collected salt and pepper shakers. She died March 13, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Wednesday, March 20, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow.
