| Birth: | May 27, 1882 | | Death: | Apr. 26, 1915 |  World War I Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Surry, England, he served as a Captain in the Royal Field Artillery, British Army. On April 26, 1915, at Cape Helles during the Battle of Gallipoli Turkey, Captain Walford organized and led an attack on both sides of the village of Sedd el Bahr. Although the enemy's position was strongly held with concealed machine-guns, Captain Walford was killed leading his men to the success and capture of the objective. For most prestigious gallantry and leadership, he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross on June 22, 1915. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
