Robert V. Haxby, 90 years, of Fremont, NE died Friday, January 18, 2013 at Nye Legacy Health & Rehab Center in Fremont. He was born October 18, 1922 in Cedar Bluffs, NE to Benjamin and Ella (McCauley) Haxby.
He grew up at Cedar Bluffs and was a graduate of Cedar Bluffs High School and attended Midland College in Fremont. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from Jan. 4, 1943 to Nov. 18, 1945 and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. After his discharge from the Army he moved to Fremont.
Robert married Elaine McCarthy on July 16, 1951 in Stanton, NE. He was employed at Hormel's in Fremont in the payroll department for over 30 years.
He was an over 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #15, A.F. & A.M. of Fremont.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; son, John & wife, Marie Haxby of Lincoln, NE; sister, Carma Whitmore of Fremont; 3 grandchildren, Jessica & husband, Josh Misner of Lincoln, NE, Justin & wife, Emily Haxby of Clatonia, NE and Anna Haxby of Omaha; great granddaughter, Kaya Misner of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside service will be 11:30 AM, Monday, Jan. 21st at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. The Rev. Richard Holmen will officiate. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of V.F.W. Post #854 and American Legion Post #20. Masonic Services will be conducted by Masonic Lodge #15, A.F. & A. M. on Sunday at 4 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be Sunday 3 PM to 8 PM with the family receiving friends on Sunday from 3 PM to 4 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
