Motion Picture Producer, Executive, Author. He will be best remembered for a successful association with Steve McQueen and Solar Productions for which brought to the big screen the pictures "Bullitt" (1968), "The Reivers" (1969) and "Le Mans" (1971). After attaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from UCLA, he launched his career within the entertainment industry as second assistant director for the musical "Oklahoma!" (1955) and went onto acquire experience under such directors as Daniel Mann "The Teahouse of August Moon" (1956), Richard Thorpe "Jailhouse Rock" (1957), John Sturges "Never So Few" (1959), "The Magnificent Seven" (1960), "The Great Escape" (1963) and Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins "The West Side Story" (1961) to name a few. Relyea, whom initially served as associate producer for the film "The Hallelujah Trail" (1965) additionally produced the features "Adam at Six A.M." (1970), "The Day of the Dolphin" (1973), "Blame It on Rio" (1983) and "Last Action Hero" (1993). He served as executive vice president of production with MGM following time with United Artists and Lorimar. He was appointed by Governor Pete Wilson to head the California Film Commision in 1997. In 2008, he authored the book "Not So Quiet on the Set" which recounted his behind-the-scene experiences with many legendary movie figures. (bio by: C.S.)
