Mrs. Sarah Campbell, 20 years in Biggar District, Always Ready to Help Others
Biggar. The funeral of Sarah Campbell, 74, was held on Wednesday from St. Gabriel's Church with Father Oulett conducting the service at the church and cemetery.
Mrs. Campell whose maiden name was Caffrey was born in St. Sylvestre, Quebec. In 1914 she came to the Castelwood District, northwest of Biggar to join her husband and family who had come West in 1911. In the almost 20 years she lived there she was an "angel of mercy" , lending a helping hand at all times to her neighghbors in times of sickness or trouble of any kind.
Her husband predeceased her in 1933 and since she had lived with her daughter Mrs. J. Saunders in Biggar. Two years ago she sufferred a stroke from which she never fully recovered. She passed away in St. Margaret's Hospital on Sunday. She is survived by seven children and two brothers and two sisters.
Many friends paid their last respects with spiritual bouquets and floral tributes. Pallbears were J. Hogan, F. Hoffmann, H. Lewis, and W. Keefe. Internment was made in Biggar Cemetery with Wrights Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
