MANSFIELD -- Helen F. Barth, 86, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at her home after a short illness.

Now at home with her Lord, she was born July 14, 1918, in Mansfield to Martin and Ethel (Miller) Betz. On Sept. 27, 1952, she married Fred Barth, Jr., and they were married 46 years before his passing in 1999. Together they created a close blended family of five daughters. Helen was a dedicated wife and mother who enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the delights of her life. Helen was a wonderful cook, always trying new recipes. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, watching the birds at her feeder, and being with her three cats, Jessica, Dovie Ann and Arlo. Helen will leave behind a legacy of one of the most kind, caring, loving people anyone could ever meet.

Left behind to cherish her memory are five daughters, Dorothy Tasman, Penelope (Larry) Foster and Kathy Barth, all of Mansfield, Nancy (Larry) Jones of Portage, Mich., and Lillian (Greg) Wilson of Gahanna; 12 grandchildren, Bill Tasman, Eric (Karen) Tasman, Alan (Judy) Tasman, Jeff Tasman, Steve (Peggy) Steward, Brian (Tina) Steward, Pam Steward, Ryan (Kelley) Foster, Dawn (Mark) Waun, Andy (Penny) Scott, Abby Scott (Bob Eurez), and Megan Wilson; 15 great-grandchildren, Lance, Joshua, Sarah, Erica and Matthew Tasman, Sarah, Helen, Conor, Ross and Lindsay Steward, Stone and Gage Foster, Drew Scott, and Ava and Canaan Eurez; sisters-in-law, Christina Martin, Leona Mae Hoffer; brothers-in-law, Ben Barth, Kenny Barth, Leonard McGregor; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Barth, Jr.; parents, and sisters, Leona Warner and Marjorie Boals.

A celebration of her life, conducted by her grandson, Eric Tasman, will be held Saturday, January 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may call at the funeral home one half hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or Humane Society of Richland County.
