Margaret Matilda ("Maggie") Cain was
the daughter of Squire William Cain and
Amy Elizabeth Briles.

She married Theodore Alonzo Van Arsdale,
aka Vanarsdale, on September 13, 1900.
The couple had nine children, namely:
Augusta Mae ("Gussie"), Margaret Anderson ("Margie"), Hattie Elizabeth, Theodore Squire, Violet, Esther Fay, Hazel Bell, William Franklin ("Frank"), and Betty Loretta.

Theodore Alonzo Van Arsdale was born
ca 1865 in Illinois and died after 1916; his date and place of death are unknown. He resided in Oregon before moving his family
to Alberta, Canada, in 1906. They appeared
on the 1906, 1911, and 1916 Canada Censuses, Alberta, as Vanarsdale.

On the 1930 Census, Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, Margaret Van Arsdale appeared as a widow.

Between 1935 and 1940, Margaret Matilda (Cain) Vanarsdale married Charles Robert Lutz.

On the 1940 Census, Montebello, Los Angeles County, California, Margaret M. and Charles R. Lutz [incorrectly transcribed as Sutz] share their home with her grandson, James Marchbanks [sic-Marchbank], 9, who was
born in Oregon. James was the son of
Maggie's daughter and former son-in-law, Violet (Vanarsdale) and Archie C. Marchbank.
