George was in the Army Air Corps, Tow Target Detachment, McChord Field, Wash. He had enlisted at the age of 27 on Dec. 22, 1941, just two weeks after Pearl Harbor.

Train Kills Corporal Walking on Trestle
McChord Field, Aug. 17 (AP)--Cpl. George O. Gavoille, Milford, Pa., was killed and four other McChord Field soldiers narrowly escaped death yesterday as they were crossing a railroad trestle near Yakima, Wash.
When a fast train appeared around a curve two of the group ran ahead of the train, a third hung beneath the structure, and a fourth fell into an irrigation flume. He was rescued.
Unmarried, George was the son of Olin Philip Gavoille (1889-1967) and Laura Hanna Gavoille (1893-1964).
Note: His is a government-issued flat granite marker.
