In 1888 Emma took a trip to Port Angeles with a girlfriend who was going there to visit a sister. Finding life in a pioneer settlement appealing, she decided to stay. Most of her married life was spent at the Chambers homestead, on Mount Angeles Road, which is now a landmark.
