Died at the age of 40
"Nature had been generous to him/and he was liberally educated. His/academic studies being completed he laid the foundation to his
coun-/try of medical education, which/was finished in England. He soon afterwards distinguished/himself by his professional skill and/was not less conspicuous for his integri-/ty humanity and suavity of manners./ In the closing scene of life to his mo/ral excellence was added the Christ-/ian character peace and resignati-/on evidence his well founded be-/lief in the savior of mankind and/his happy exit life his deeply afflict/ed family and friends the consolation/ of believing they he fell asleep in/Christ."
Dr. Benjamin Mason interned in the office of Dr. isaac Senter and upon his death in 1799 suceeded him as Purveyor-General of the military Hospital of R.I.
