MANSFIELD: DOMINIC M. AUGUSTINE, 82, of Mansfield passed away March 5, 2013 at James Cancer Hospital after a 25 year battle with cancer.

Dominic was born October 6, 1930 in Mansfield to Frank and Rafina DiAchille Augustine. He was a 1948 graduate of St. Peter's High School and a life-long member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. He served with the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War. Dominic retired from the Postal Service after 32 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #687, served as past Faithful Navigator for Father Clement Falter 4th Degree Assembly #821, member of National Association of Letter Carriers since 1955, and a 25 year member of the Liederkranz.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years Helen Smith Augustine whom he married September 7, 1953; children Karen (Daniel) Maxey of Mansfield and Palm Bay, Florida, Lori Augustine of Aspen, Colorado; grandchildren Christopher West serving with the United States Air Force, Joel West of Orlando, Florida, Ryan (Gisselle Castaneda) Maxey of Las Vegas, Nevada, Amanda (Brandi Graham) Maxey of Columbus; great-grandchildren Kellen, Asha, Isabella; brother Charles (Wanda) Augustine of Mansfield; sisters Rose Augustine of Mansfield, Ann (John) Thomas of Mansfield, Esther Williams of Lexington; sister-in-law Edith Augustine; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Anthony, Michael, Joseph, James; sisters Mary Colarosa, Catherine Vogt, Florence Forwith, Jenny Krichbaum; great-grandson Kameron.

Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, Sunday from 2-5 p.m. with a vigil service at 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Tom McQuillen officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery with military services provided by Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Church, Msgr. Dunn Foundation or James Cancer Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
