The daughter of Edward Kitto Fahnestock and Martha Ann Snell, Ethel married Russell Newman Duffey on 15 Oct 1903 in Bethalto, Madison County, Illinois. He was the son of Owen Eugene Duffey and Frances Ellen Belk.

Ethel and Russell were the parents of 4 children before they divorced in 1920. [He died in Vicksburg, Mississippi in 1964.]

Children from first marriage: 3 sons, 1 daughter.

Ethel married Edward James Lockyer on 07 Jun 1937 in Alton, Madison County, Illinois. He was a native of Compton, Bishop, England.

Edward died not long after their marriage in 1939.

Children from second marriage: None.

Ethel died at St. Anthony's Hospital 30 days after her 92nd birthday. She was survived by 3 sons, Homer Duffey of Long Beach, California, Paul Duffey of Clayton, Missouri, and Ray Duffey of Heber Springs, Arkansas; 1 daughter, Thelma Maguire of Alton, Illinois; 7 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Burke Funeral Home on 21 Jan 1977. Funeral services were conducted there at 11 a.m. the following morning.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
