Married, second, Kenelm Winslow, on March 4, 1821, at Bridgewater, VT. Later, Rachel was abandoned when Kenelm Winslow moved west.

Rachel's maiden name unknown, not proven and under investigation. Researcher and Find A Grave Member is a direct descendant.

2021 Update:

The most common incorrect claim is that Rachel _ , who is my direct ancestor and whose headstone I photographed for this memorial, was the the daughter of Timothy and Rachel (Wheeler) Winter who settled in Croydon NH. This error was likely partly the result of a misread/scanned interpretation the 1830 census of Bridgewater VT listing Rachel_, the widow of my ancestor William White and the ex-wife of Kanelm Winslow, as Robert, or Rachel Winter. People attempting to build their trees have accepted this error historically because they have not found a documented alternative to Rachel's maiden name. Bridgewater vital records for this time period are very scarce, for reasons unknown. There was a family of the surname, Winter, in Bridgewater at the time, which has added to the level of acceptance of this being Rachel's maiden name. Unable to find a record in Bridgewater placing Rachel_ in the household of the Bridgewater Winter family, tree makers found a family of the name Winter, in Croydon, New Hampshire. This family had a daughter named Rachel who was born and died in the years close to my ancestor Rachel_, so an assumptive line was drawn between these two individuals, effectively merging them.

It is possible that my ancestor's maiden name was Winter and that the family in Bridgewater was hers. The Rachel Winter of Croydon New Hampshire may in fact be a cousin of my ancestor. However, there is no documentation to support the idea that they are the same person and other researchers who have been more careful have been working on organizing the record of the Croydon NH Winter family. Rachel (Winter) Partridge is likely in the household of her husband in Croydon NH in 1930 while my ancestor Rachel_ (divorced from Winslow) is found as head of household in Bridgewater VT the same year, her next neighbor being my ancestor William Backus, who married Rachel's daughter, Betsy White, in 1929.
