Margaret was born near Beresford, SD to William and Hattie (Green) Briggle. She attended Gothland Country School before working for Dr. Lietzke. Margaret married William Stiles on September 16, 1940 at the home of her mother near Beresford, SD; and, she and her husband farmed north of Beresford. After her husband's death in 1959, Margaret resided on the farm until moving in Beresford during the fall of 1984. In 1990, she moved to Bethesda Nursing Home.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers (Lee, Zell, and Charles); three sisters, (Mary Green and Hazel Bochman); and a grandson, James Stiles. She was survived by three daughters, one son, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one sister, and two brothers.
