Jacque M Augustus Scammon, age 94, passed away at 2:17 am Thursday, March 07, 2013 at her home following an illness.
Jacque was born August 22, 1918 in Columbus, KS Her parents were Henry and Edith Chubb Augustus. She had lived in Tulsa since 2007, moving from Columbus, KS. where she had lived most of her life.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Columbus KS. She had also been a member of the Jayhawk Gals, the PEO of Columbus, the Columbus Country Club, and had been the Cherokee County Chairman of the KS Crippled Children Society for several years. She used to play the violin, and enjoyed golf, bowling, and fishing.
Jacque was married to John Scammon on December 31, 1940 in Joplin, MO. He preceded her in death December 28, 2007. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jon Scammon.
Surviving is one son, Jed (and Connie) Scammon, Jenks, OK: one daughter in law, Katy Hays, Columbus, KS; three grandchildren. Manda (and Zachary) Thompson, Kechi, KS, Chock Scammon, Columbus, KS, and Craig (and Tisha) Scammon, Bixby, OK; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS. Rev. Roger Beason will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Columbus, KS.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund.
