Stewart took delight in caring for his father and provided for him to the fullest extent. Mr. Stewart was born in Newton County, Georgia, and was 88 years of age at the time. he lived in Georgia until 1880 when he moved to Texas setting in Navarro County, where he lived for many years. He was married to Miss Sarah Elizabeth Douglass who preceded him in death. They were the parents of 13 children, eight of who are still living. From 1861-1865, he was in the war and rendered faithful service, first with the Tennessee regiment and later with the Georgia regiment. Grandpa Stewart will be missed in Graham. It will be remembered that a reunion of his children held in Graham in October 1921, for the first time in 27 years the living children were together. The old father enjoyed the occasion with his children and lived over the happy days when the children were around the fireside. The children felt in that reunion, it would be the last time some of them would see him alive. The four sons were present when the end came, but the daughters were not able to get to Graham. The funeral was held at the home of his son, W.A. Stewart on Sunday afternoon and the body was transferred to Dresden, Texas to be laid beside his wife who preceded him many years ago. The four sons accompanied the remains to the old home burial ground. Some of the daughters were expected to be present at the burial.
