Madison Moore Jr., 25, of Murphysboro, was killed early Sunday morning in a one-car accident on the Mt. Joy road west of Murphysboro.

Jackson County sheriff deputies said Mr. Moore's car, east-bound on the Mt. Joy road about two miles north of Illinois 149, ran off the road and overturned into a field.

The accident was reported by another motorist at 1:23 a.m.

Jackson County officials said first officers at the scene found Mr. Moore lying about 40 feet from his overturned car.

Police said it is believed the driver crawled from the wrecked car. He was dead on arrival at Doctors Hospital in Carbondale.

Mr. Moore was born March 20, 1950, in Laurel, Miss., to Madison Clayton and Betty Parker Moore Sr.

He was a member of the Christian Church.

Mr. Moore was a commercial artist.

Survivors include his parents of Murphysboro, a sister, Cecile Brookover of Gallinao, La.; brother, Shelton of Chicago; and his grandmother, Tressie Parker of Mobile, Ala.

Services will he Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Crawahaw Mortuary Chapel In Murphysboro, with the Rev. Gene Sandefur officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Cemetery.
