Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Bette J. Ryan, 82, a resident of Bettendorf, will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Ryan passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at her daughter's home in Davenport, surrounded by family and her beloved companion dogs.
Bette J. Korn was born May 25, 1930 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Ottomar A. and Jane (Dixon) Korn. She was united in marriage to James J. Ryan, June 25, 1957 in Davenport. He preceded her in death, August 9, 1994.
Bette received her C.P.M. degree/license and worked as a property manager for DDH Properties at Ridgewood Towers in East Moline, she retired following 20 years of service. Bette's life was filled with sports. She followed her husband's professional officiating career and spent countless hours enjoying her children and grandchildren's athletic endeavors.
Survivors include her children and their spouses; Megan (Kevin) Welch, Bettendorf, Kristin (John) Flynn, Davenport, Heidi Cruscon, Tucson, AZ, Patrick Ryan (Carol Garrett) Bettendorf, Duff Ryan, Los Angeles, CA, Brendan Ryan, Oakland, CA, Kim Ryan, Bettendorf; twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, her twin Barbara Dalton, Sarasota, FL, and Marilyn Flood, E. Moline, IL, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the QCU Animal Welfare Center.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-laws, William Dalton and George Flood, and a sister-in-law Gertie Blanchett. May they rest in peace.
